1. Go Downtown
We know that a smaller mountain town like Ellijay might not be the first place you think of when you're planning a night out, but we would suggest you take a small drive from Talona Ridge RV Resort and visit Cartecay Wine and Craft, a downtown extension of Cartecay Vineyards.
Here, you will see the amazing bartenders who will introduce you to handcrafted and locally brewed beers, as well as, you guessed it, wines. In fact, they don't have the generic types of wine like Cabernet Sauvignon or Chardonnay, instead, they have their own set of choices. This is where the well-informed bartender comes in handy. They can ask you your go-to wine, and from there, give you the perfect Cartecay Wine and Craft version. If all that isn't enough to excite you, there are fun board games to play while you sip with your significant other and/or friends.
PS. Chimney Red is a fan favorite if you are into deep reds.
2. Head to the Hills
There are many wineries in Gilmer County, but not many can top the beautiful landscapes surrounding Chateau Meightry Family Vineyard and Winery. They have excellent outdoor seating that looks into the grass-covered hills. They are located in Talking Rock, just a short drive from Talona Ridge RV Resort in East Ellijay. When visiting this these vineyards, you can sip a variety of locally grown and aged wines while looking off into the beautiful landscape. They also have cheese boards and chocolates available.
